League of Legends anthem songwriter Natania Lalwani on her Indian roots

It’s one of those pinch me moments for songwriter Natania Lalwani. The Mumbai-born, Los Angeles-based artiste, best known in India for penning the title track of Four More Shots Please, has become the first Indian songwriter to write the official Riot Games World Championship anthem, titled Know My Name, for the popular game series, League of Legends.

“Creating this song was about that feeling of proving yourself on the biggest stage and striving for greatness,” said Lalwani of the song that features virtual group True Damage with vocals by Coco Jones, Vic Mensa, Sofia Reyes, and Soyeon.

The scale of the release is not lost on her. She exclaimed, “It’s surreal knowing that something we created in a room will become part of a moment that millions of people around the world experience together.”

Lalwani has collaborated with Tyla, Cardi B, and Nick Jonas, while also writing for K-pop and J-pop artistes. With her work moving between the US and Asia, her Indian identity remains an intrinsic part of her music. She reflected, “My Indian identity is a part of everything I write. Growing up in India and then moving to LA has given me two different worlds to pull from.”
