A 14-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted by a group of schoolmates, one of whom is suspected to have pricked him in the neck with a sharp object, while he was playing with his cousin in Ghatkopar West, Mumbai, on Monday evening.

The boy is out of danger, and police have ruled out the claim that he was injected with drugs following his medical examination.

According to the complaint registered at Ghatkopar police station, the incident took place around 7.30 pm on Monday near Municipal School No 3 in Bhatwadi. The boy was playing with his cousin when three to four schoolmates allegedly began hitting them with their hands. During the assault, one of the boys allegedly pricked the complainant on the back of his neck with a needle-like object before running away.

Police rule out drug injection claim

In his statement, the boy reportedly said that he experienced a sharp pain in his neck for some time. The other boys involved in the incident are yet to be identified, but police have confirmed that they went to the same school as the victim.

The police have registered a case under Sections 115, 118(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway to identify the boys involved and establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
