When Super Subbu came his way, Murli Sharma said an instant yes for two reasons the Telugu series would mark his OTT debut. More importantly, it would give the actor the opportunity to reunite with director Mallik Ram after the Telugu movie, Tillu Square (2024). Today, as the dramedy streams on Netflix, the actor couldn’t be happier about his decision.
“I believe a large part of a series or film is created on paper first. Mallik is an intelligent writer, storyteller, and director. The way he brings his stories to life is delightful. He immerses you in that world,” reflected Sharma, who plays a strict father to the protagonist in Super Subbu. The comedy follows the journey of Sundeep Kishan’s Subbu, a sex education teacher navigating life in the quirky village of Maakipur.
Having enjoyed his second collaboration with Ram, Sharma is clear that they should reunite for a hat-trick. That’s the wish he is sending out into the universe. “I’m hoping for a hat-trick with Mallik. We were discussing this recently; he told me that I’m an addictive person, and I told him he is exactly the same,” he smiled.
