Adarsh Baal Vidyalaya: Kay Kay Menon's comedy-drama gets July 24 premiere

Prime Video has announced the premiere date of its upcoming original series Adarsh Baal Vidyalaya, a heartwarming comedy-drama led by Kay Kay Menon. The seven-episode series, created by Biswapati Sarkar and Sameer Saxena under the banner of Posham Pa Pictures, will stream worldwide from July 24 in Hindi with English subtitles across more than 240 countries and territories.

Directed by Himank Gaur, the series promises an entertaining mix of humour, emotion and everyday struggles, set against the backdrop of one of the city's most underperforming schools.

Kay Kay Menon leads an unlikely school revival

In Adarsh Baal Vidyalaya, Kay Kay Menon plays Gyaneshwar Tripathi, a laid-back headmaster whose ambitions take an unexpected turn when he sets his sights on a prestigious government-sponsored training programme in Cambridge. Hoping to improve his chances, he decides to transform his struggling school with the help of an equally unconventional team of teachers.

As they navigate unruly students, limited resources, disengaged parents and countless administrative challenges, the series celebrates the resilience of educators who continue showing up despite the odds. Alongside Menon, the ensemble cast includes Archana Puran Singh, Naveen Kasturia, Prasanna Bisht, Abhimanyu Singh, Deven Bhojani, Ajitesh Gupta, Annapurna Soni and Prachee Shah in pivotal roles.

Comedy and chaos take lead in Adarsh Baal Vidyalaya

Speaking about the series, Nikhil Madhok described Adarsh Baal Vidyalaya as a warm comedy that explores the contradictions of the education system while highlighting the perseverance of the people who keep it running. He added that the show's blend of wit, heart and relatable storytelling makes it a unique addition to the platform's original slate.

Creators Biswapati Sarkar and Sameer Saxena shared that the idea was born from telling the story of a school that appears to be failing by every measurable standard but continues to survive because of teachers and students who refuse to give up on one another. They also praised Kay Kay Menon's portrayal of Gyaneshwar, calling him an unconventional protagonist whose journey is both moving and entertaining.

Written by Biswapati Sarkar, Akshay Asthana, Nupur Pai, Tatsat Pandey and Meghna Srivastava, Adarsh Baal Vidyalaya aims to balance sharp comedy with heartfelt moments, proving that even the most overlooked institutions deserve a second chance. The series begins streaming exclusively on Prime Video from July 24.
