A 25-year-old man, Rajesh Londhe, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing 38-year-old driver Vilas Sahebrao Hivale to death following a late-night altercation near BEST Maidan in PMGP Colony, Mankhurd.
Rajesh, along with Siddharth Londhe, 27, and Sagar Kapsekar, 30, has been booked in the case. All three accused are residents of Annabhau Sathe Nagar. Police said the two other accused have been traced and will be arrested soon.
Torch row
The incident occurred around 2.30 am on May 29. Police said Hivale allegedly flashed a torch at the trio while they were drinking. Police said the trio took offence to this and allegedly began assaulting him.
Fatal blow
During the scuffle, Rajesh allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Hivale in the left side of his abdomen, allegedly threatening to kill him. A resident, Mubarak Hussain Shah, rushed the injured man to hospital. Hivale was admitted to Shatabdi Hospital and later shifted to Sion Hospital. Before his death, he allegedly narrated the incident to his elder brother, Prahlad Hivale, who later filed a complaint.
Probe on
Hivale succumbed to his injuries on June 2, following which police registered a murder case under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act. Prahlad told police that the family could not immediately lodge a complaint as they were attending to the victim and coping with a death in the family.
