From a small village in Bihar to becoming one of India’s most respected actors, Manoj Bajpayee’s journey has been shaped by grit, sacrifice, and an unwavering belief in moving forward. Over the years, the actor has won acclaim for his performances, but behind his success lies a personal philosophy that has helped him navigate both triumphs and setbacks.
Manoj Bajpayee talks about his career
In a candid conversation on Shekhar Tonite with host Shekhar Suman, Bajpayee opened up about the mindset that has guided him throughout his life and career. Reflecting on a poem that has remained close to his heart, the actor revealed how its message continues to influence the way he approaches life.
“I still remember a few lines from that time. Though if Amit ji hears me reciting them, he might scold me because he often says that I forget words and change them around. But sometimes emotions take over,” Bajpayee said with a smile. Quoting the famous line, “Jo beet gayi so baat gayi,” he explained, “I always prefer to think about what lies ahead and what I can create in the future. Once something is over, there is no point holding on to it.”
The actor shared that this outlook has become a defining part of his personality. According to him, he has learned to let go of the past and focus entirely on what comes next. “I have always been a bit detached in that way. Once a film is completed, it completely leaves my system. It no longer stays in my DNA,” he said.
All about his acting journey
Bajpayee believes this ability to move on stems from the many transitions he experienced growing up. Recalling the major changes in his life, he said, “I left my village, then my parents, then Delhi, where I spent ten years studying, doing theatre, and graduating. I was constantly moving forward, leaving things behind.”
Those experiences, he added, played a crucial role in shaping the person he is today. However, he feels growth is only possible when one continues to evolve. “That journey and those experiences made me who I am. But if I want to grow further and become better, I have to keep moving ahead,” he said.
The heartfelt conversation offers a rare glimpse into Bajpayee’s life philosophy one rooted in resilience, perseverance, and the courage to embrace change. For the actor, success is not about dwelling on the past, but about continuously looking ahead and striving to become a better version of oneself.
