In an exclusive conversation, Sophie Choudry opened up about her fitness talk show Famously Fit with Sophie, her evolving creative journey, and her desire to return to acting with more meaningful roles.
Talking about her passion for fitness, Sophie said, “Fitness has always been such an integral part of my life. It’s actually, I really believe it’s a lifestyle and not just something that one does for the sake of it. It’s, you know, a lifelong journey and something I truly believe in.” She added that post-pandemic, perspectives have shifted significantly. “I realized post-COVID, fitness and health has become way more important, not just for celebrities, but actually for the common man… It’s not about being skinny. It’s about being fit and healthy.”
Sophie Choudry on her interesting talk show
Explaining the idea behind her show, she shared, “I wanted to do a show where we inspire people with fitness and health stories, but also life stories… the insecurities they face, the rejections they face, how they overcome them.” She emphasised authenticity, saying, “All the celebs that I’ve had on my show… have been super real, authentic and candid… you’ll see them sharing stories that they’ve never shared in other places.” Sophie also revealed her active involvement in shaping the show, adding, “Whether it’s the script or how the show looks, I’m really fortunate to have an important role in that.”
Looking ahead, she hinted at bigger plans. “I’ve always been someone who’s been multi-faceted… I think the next step is definitely going to be to produce my own show… that you’ll hear about really soon.”
On looking for more meaningful opportunities
On acting, Sophie admitted she stepped away due to repetitive roles. “I got very tired of being offered the same roles… the glamorous girl… that’s about it.” However, she remains open to good opportunities. “If it’s a great song, I’d never say no… similarly, if it’s an interesting role, I would always do it.” She also noted changing industry dynamics, saying, “With OTT platforms… there’s so many avenues… but a lot of people now cast you based on your Instagram content. And I find that really strange.”
Speaking about work culture, she said, “Now people have the luxury of working on a character… but sometimes it’s also a forced rest for actors… it’s much harder to get a project off the ground.” Still, she views this shift positively. “Everybody’s learned that they need to balance… whether it’s family, hobbies, or businesses.”
Concluding, Sophie emphasised growth beyond acting: “Actors are definitely becoming multifaceted… while acting is the core, I think we all need to expand in other ventures.”
