Mumbai Police recover 1650 lost and stolen mobiles from Uttar Pradesh

Mumbai Police have recovered 1,650 lost and stolen mobile phones belonging to city residents in a targeted operation across Uttar Pradesh.

During a state-wise review of complaints registered on the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, police observed that a significant number of missing devices were being traced to Uttar Pradesh. Acting on this, a special recovery drive was launched with the approval of Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti.

Mumbai Police deploy 13 teams to trace and recover phones from Uttar Pradesh 

Thirteen dedicated teams—one from each police zone and comprising officers and CEIR officials—were deployed to 19 districts in Uttar Pradesh to trace and recover the handsets, the police said in a press release on Saturday.

The operation successfully recovered 1,650 mobile phones, collectively valued at around Rs 2 crore. So far, Mumbai Police have recovered and returned a total of 33,514 lost and stolen mobile phones to their rightful owners, a police officer added.
