As Dhanak’s (2016) fusion track All I Am Saying Is Let’s Give Love a Chance, a new-age rendition of Dum-a-Dum Mast Qalandar unexpectedly finds a second life on Instagram reels a decade after its release, composer Tapas Relia is surprised at the song’s unusual comeback. Speaking to mid-day, Relia reflects on the strange longevity of music, viral rediscovery, and his latest experimental leap with the title track for Madhuri Dixit Nene’s new series, Mrs Deshpande.
“It’s a strange yet surprisingly beautiful feeling, Dhanak came out almost ten years ago, and suddenly this track has gone viral. I suppose good music finds its way to people eventually.”

Relia admits the delayed recognition can be unsettling, but he has made peace with it. “It’s taken a little too long for comfort,” he laughs, “but I really have no complaints. What’s reassuring is that people are responding to something that isn’t designed as a viral hook. Let’s Give Love is very basic musically, it’s the magic of the children, the script, the performances. I think it has finally reached people the way it was always meant to.”
