Amruta Khanvilkar has started 2026 on a strong note. It has only been a day since Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web dropped on Netflix, and the actor is already gearing up for Space Gen: Chandrayaan. Even as she moves from one series to another, her manifestation for 2026 is clear — to be a part of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s universe. She reveals that she had a conversation with the filmmaker after the release of her Marathi movie, Chandramukhi (2022). “Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir really liked the film and my songs in it. This is what I’m manifesting in 2026 — to get an opportunity to work with him and be in a frame that he has directed,” she says.

As she sends the wish out into the universe, Khanvilkar is equally pleased with what the present is offering her, especially in terms of the varied roles. If in Taskaree, she plays a feisty customs officer, the upcoming JioHotstar series features her as a homemaker. She notes that even though her character is mellowed down, the makers gave her enough to chew on. “I have to credit the writers [Arunabh Kumar, Shubham Sharma, and Nitin Tiwari], because when the role is written beautifully, an actor just has to go and do her job. When a writer crafts a good scene, they give an actor that space to perform.”
