As soon as Tom Hiddleston began filming for The Night Manager’s second season last October, Indian fans had two questions: When will the British spy thriller hit our screens? And will the Indian version have a second edition too? Well, as it turns out, momentum on Aditya Roy Kapur’s desi adaptation is quietly building. Insiders close to JioHotstar say that directors Sandeep Modi, Priyanka Ghose, and the makers have begun conversations to take the story forward.
A source told mid-day, “The writing process is expected to kick off by the year-end. The script of the British original has been shared with the Indian team, which is now working on mapping out the protagonist’s arc and adapting the plot points.” According to internal discussions at the platform, the new season will pick up eight years after the first instalment, with Shaan Sengupta and R&AW agent — essayed by Kapur and Tillotama Shome respectively — taking on a new covert mission.

When we asked Kapur, who made his web series debut with the International Emmy-nominated spy thriller, about the way forward, he joked that he has been unsuccessfully trying to get details out of Modi. “We’ll have to ask the powers that be! Tom Hiddleston is working on his next season, so the energy is there. There is an intention to do another season, but everyone wants the writing to be just right before they move ahead,” he stated.
