The three accused, including Ritik alias Roshan from Begusarai in Bihar and Rehan from Sonipat in Haryana, were picked up from the general coach of the Pune-Jaipur Superfast Express when it halted at Kota railway station at 10.17 am on Monday, Kota Superintendent of Police Tejaswani Gautam said. The operation was completed in around 15 minutes.
Following the medical examinations, Kota Police handed over all three accused to the Mumbai Police.
After the handover, Kota ASP Subhash Chandra Mishra told the media, "They (accused) were handed over to the Mumbai Police. The Mumbai Police obtained their transit remand. After the transit, the Mumbai Police had them medically examined and are now taking them away."
Police say accused planned to flee to Nepal after firing
SP Gautam said one of the accused had provided a date of birth indicating that he was nearly a month short of turning 18. "However, during questioning and verification, it was established that he had already attained the age of 18. All three accused have now been arrested by Mumbai Police, which has also obtained their transit remand," she told PTI.
According to the Kota SP, the suspects told police they had boarded the train after "executing the crime". They were allegedly planning to take a bus from Jaipur to Delhi before crossing the border into Nepal. No weapon was recovered from them, she added.
As the investigation into Sunday's firing in Mumbai's Juhu area progressed, police said Rehan was in contact with Anil Pandit, an alleged associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which claimed responsibility for the incident in an unverified social media post.
Addressing a press conference in Mumbai, Deputy Commissioner of Police Raj Tilak Roshan denied earlier reports that one of the three accused was a minor. "One is 18 years old and the other two are 22 years old," he said.
Roshan said five to six rounds were fired at Tiger Shroff's car and added that a motorcycle allegedly used by the accused was found in Andheri. The shooting was captured on video, which showed gunshots being fired at close range at the actor's car.
The case pertains to the firing incident that took place around 7 pm on Sunday in Mumbai's Juhu area, when Tiger Shroff was leaving a football club. The accused allegedly opened fire at the actor's car. While the actor escaped direct gunshot injuries, his driver and a bystander sustained injuries.
