Disha Salian's father, Satish Salian, has hit back at Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray, accusing him of making “false and misleading” statements regarding the allegations surrounding Disha Salian death case.
In a statement issued on behalf of Satish Salian, he alleged that Thackeray had previously denied knowing Disha Salian and maintained that the allegations against him were politically motivated and aimed at defaming him.
Salian claimed that Thackeray had taken a similar position in an affidavit filed before the Bombay High Court in connection with his petition, while opposing the registration of an FIR and a CBI investigation. He further claimed that the High Court rejected the objection in its September 2, 2026, order.
Salian alleges Thackeray made 'false' statement before court
The statement further alleged that Thackeray had told the High Court that Disha Salian's case had already reached the Supreme Court and had been investigated by the CBI.
According to Salian, the High Court sought verification from the CBI and subsequently found the claim to be incorrect. He alleged that Thackeray's counsel then tendered an apology before the court.
Salian also referred to an earlier alleged statement by Thackeray that he did not know actor Rhea Chakraborty. He claimed that chats recovered by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Mumbai, during its investigation into Crime No. 15 of 2020 contradicted the statement.
Satish Salian alleges evidence against Thackeray
The statement claimed that the Salian family possesses “all material evidence” relating to the allegations against Thackeray.
Salian also alleged that Thackeray had not specifically denied claims concerning his mobile-tower location at the alleged crime scene or what the statement described as an NCB report connected to Crime No. 15 of 2020.
The statement further made allegations of drug trafficking and drug use against Thackeray, including claims that he personally consumed drugs. These allegations were made by Salian in the statement and have not been independently established in the material provided.
Statement questions Thackeray's whereabouts claim
Salian also challenged an earlier claim attributed to Thackeray that he was outside Mumbai on June 8, 2020, when Disha Salian died, citing the death of his grandfather as the reason.
According to Salian's statement, records showed that his grandfather, referred to as Shri Patankar, was alive until June 14, 2020.
The statement also alleged that Thackeray had not responded to a defamation notice dated October 21, 2023, issued by advocate Chaitanya Raote on behalf of Rashid Khan Pathan, chairman of the Supreme Court and High Court Litigants Association, over similar allegations.
Salian says media scrutiny is crucial to case
Salian further criticised Thackeray's reported objection to media debate surrounding the case, arguing that media intervention had played a role in bringing renewed attention to the matter.
He alleged that public and media scrutiny would make it more difficult for anyone to influence the investigation or evade accountability.
The statement concluded by saying that continued public scrutiny would ensure that developments in the case were “watched, questioned, scrutinised and documented” in the public domain.
The allegations in the statement concern ongoing and contested claims surrounding Disha Salian death case. They should be treated as allegations unless established through a competent investigation or court proceedings.
