The Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar (MBVV) Police have arrested a mother-son duo and a jeweller in connection with a burglary case, recovering stolen articles valued at Rs 68.70 lakh, an official told news agency PTI on Tuesday.
According to the police, a case was registered on June 12 based on a complaint under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
"The investigation was highly challenging because the complainant, a resident of the Kashimira area, didn't know the exact timing of the heist," said Rahul Chavan, deputy commissioner of police (DCP), zone-1, MBVV Police.
“However, utilising strong local intelligence and technical surveillance, our crime detection team managed to zero in on two suspects,” he added.
The suspects allegedly stole duplicate keys of the complainant's residence before committing the crime.
"They sold gold ornaments to a local jeweller, leading to his arrest," the DCP said.
The seized items include 378.80 grams of gold bars valued at Rs 56.70 lakh, cash worth Rs 10.50 lakh, a motorcycle, and two mobile phones.
