Mumbai coach Amol Muzumdar and chief selector Salil Ankola along with his committee members were keen observers as the city’s cricketers paraded their skills in the Padmakar Talim Shield T20 tournament at various grounds over the weekend. The event is viewed as good preparation for next month’s Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament organised by the BCCI.
“Players were eager and excited to play because they’ve lost almost one-and-a-half years. We selectors are keen to see some extraordinary talent. MCA, its clubs and especially the groundsmen have done a commendable job by preparing good wickets at short notice,” Ankola told mid-day.
Second win for Parkophene
Parkophene Cricketers, who outclassed Sind SC on Saturday, registered their second convincing win, beating DY Patil Sports Association (DYPSA) by four wickets at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. Parkophene medium pacers Deepak Shetty (3-27), Ankur Singh (3-29) and Minad Manjrekar (2-21) restricted DYPSA to 129 all out with Bravish Shetty top-scoring with 41 for DYPSA. In reply, Japjeet Randhawa’s 66 off 55 balls helped Parkophene win with four balls to spare.

At MCA’s BKC ground, opener Kaushik Chikhlikar’s 55-ball 97 (5x4, 8x6) helped Victory CC beat Bhatnagar Sports and Cultural Foundation (BSCF) by seven wickets. Harsh Rane (38), Sachin Rao (35) and Jay Jain (26) helped BSCF posted 174-7 in 20 overs. However, Chikhlikar’s knock saw Victory chase down the target in 18.5 overs.
KSA triumph
Karnatak SA too registered their second win at BKC, thanks to Akash Parkar (75* off 50 balls, 6x4, 3x6) and Vinayak Bhoir’s 20-ball 46*. Chasing Karnatak’s 191-5, PJ Hindu Gym were bundled out for 104. Parkar took three for 14, while spinners Ankeet Chavan (2-3), Bhoir (2-21) and Tanush Kotian (2-26) shone too.
